We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information (personal data). SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS Policy & Guidelines

The people of Crownhill Methodist Church have a deep regard for the wholeness and well being of each individual and aim to provide a safe environment for all. We seek to safeguard the welfare of all people, regardless of age, who come into contact with the Church and its organisations. It is the responsibility of each individual participating in the life of the Church to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and vulnerable adults, and to act appropriately if abuse is discovered or suspected or when good practice and guidelines are not being followed.

All users of the Premises at Crownhill Methodist Church, as well as organisations under the control of the Church Council, are required to adhere to this policy statement and to note the guidelines, following their own procedures as appropriate.

Summary of Guidelines:

1. Plan the work of the organisation so as to minimise situations where the abuse of children may occur.

2. Be aware that there is a system whereby children may talk with an independent body.

3. Use supervision as a means of protecting children.

4. Know how to deal with the disclosure or discovery of abuse, and the importance of referring to others.

5. Know particular procedures where the alleged abuser is a church worker.

6. Know particular procedures for activities taking place off the premises.

7. Know the procedure for First Aid.

8. Know the procedure for Fire safety.

9. Know the procedure for administering medication.

10. Follow proper procedures for appointing all workers.
